If you have never had your carpet cleaned in Dallas, you might be at a loss as to how much you should expect to pay for this service. It doesn’t hep when you see advertised carpet cleaning prices that are all over the map. You will find carpet cleaners in Dallas advertising prices anywhere from $10 to $60 per room. So how much should you pay for carpet cleaning? The answer is somewhere in between, and here is why.
Avoid the lowest bidder.
The lowest bidder in carpet cleaning never intends to charge the lowest price. They use “bait and switch” pricing techniques to get your attention. You might see a price advertised, $9.95 a room or 5 rooms for $59.95, for example. This price sounds great but it does not include everything. You will soon find out that they charge extra fore pre-treating the carpet and charge you per spot to remove them. To top it off, they typically charge per square foot for these “extras”. So, to pre-treat your 200 square foot room, it will cost you an additional $50 at 25 cents per square foot. Now, you are looking at $60 a room to have your carpet cleaned.
In addition to all of this, they know that you are mad at this point. After all, you now find yourself paying 6 times the original price. They know you will not be calling them back, so they have little interest in doing quality work. They just want to get in and out as quickly as possible so that they can move on to the next victim.
Watch out for the highest bidder.
So, why not just go right to the top and pay for the most expensive and therefore best carpet cleaning. Well, it may not be the best, it may just be that the carpet cleaner is very busy and has started to price gouge. As an independent owner and operator, if you get very busy and you do not want to expand, you are left with one choice, raise your prices. So that $60 per room carpet cleaning might just really be a $40 a room carpet cleaning wrapped in a much larger price tag.
So, how much should you pay?
Look for a price somewhere in the middle and, most importantly, make sure that it includes everything that is needed for a cleaning.
